About Formula 1 Driver Championship
The Formula 1 Drivers' Championship is awarded annually to the most successful Formula 1 driver over the course of the season, as determined by a points system based on Grand Prix results.
Points are awarded based on finishing position in each race, with additional points for the driver setting the fastest lap:
- 1st place: 25 points
- 2nd place: 18 points
- 3rd place: 15 points
- 4th place: 12 points
- 5th place: 10 points
- 6th to 10th place: 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 points respectively
- Fastest lap: 1 point (if the driver finishes in the top 10)
